Business Manager

I joined Optivet in July 2018 as 'Senior Admin Assistant'.  I came from the Utilities industry with no Veterinary background, I did however bring transferable skills including Site Management, Health & Safety knowledge and General Management experience. 

Within a 3-month period my role and responsibilities naturally progressed. I remained as a ‘Senior Admin Assistant but alongside this, I was promoted to ‘Facilities Manager’.  This role included overseeing all planned and reactive maintenance, reviewing annual contracts and building remedial work.  During this time I gained valuable business knowledge and was able to assist in other areas outside of this remit. 

In March 2019 I was offered my current role of 'Business Manager’.   I’m now responsible for managing Optivet's support team of Receptionists, Insurance Assistants, Accounts, Equine Admin, General Admin and HR.  October 2019 saw a change in structure for our Clinical team in which I’ve gained responsibility for the day to day non-clinical management of our Vets, Residents and Interns. 

Over a 15-month period the dynamics of my role has changed considerably.  I’ve felt supported along the way by our Directors and I’ve been offered excellent training opportunities throughout.  I’m extremely happy in my role, I work with an amazing team of professionals who are dedicated and passionate about their work.
