Optivet Referrals was founded in 2006 by Robert Lowe, who had been running a successful ophthalmology referral clinic as part of a first opinion practice.
In order to improve the care and treatment of his patients, Rob decided to move to premises dedicated to referral work, away from the hustle and bustle of a general veterinary practice.
Internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue and outpatient CT were subsequently added in line with local demand for these services.
We operate from a well-equipped, spacious hospital in Havant, wherer there is ample parking for our visitors.

We focus strongly on:
- Listening
-
We always take time to listen to your concerns and try to deal with them. We will always explain the diagnosis and treatment options thoroughly and give you as much information as possible so that you can make an informed decision for your pet.
- Improvement in quality of life
-
Our aim is to improve your pet’s quality of life. We do not recommend or perform any procedure unless it is for your pet’s benefit.
- Value
-
Veterinary referrals do not come cheaply if you wish to have the latest expertise and equipment. For example, high quality cataract surgery requires intensive staff training and up to date facilities with the latest generation cataract extraction machines. We aim to be fair and reasonable with our fees, to reflect the best value for your pet that we believe you are looking for while allowing us to invest in our staff’s knowledge and their working environment.
- Communication and Aftercare
-
You will be looked after by a dedicated team of vets, nurses and support staff who be there for you and your pet. We are always available for advice over the telephone if you are an existing client. Your own vet is kept fully up to date with all of our relevant findings.
