EBVS® European Specialist and RCVS-Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Barney graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013. He worked initially for 18 months in a small animal practice in Portsmouth. Knowing he wanted to become a specialist small animal surgeon, he undertook two rotating internships and a three-year residency in small animal surgery near his hometown of Bournemouth. Barney passed the ECVS Diploma board examinations in 2021 to become an EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery.
Barney enjoys managing all complex soft tissue and orthopaedic cases, but takes particular satisfaction in supporting and sympathetically guiding owners through the many challenging decisions encountered in surgical oncological cases.
Over the last couple of years Barney has additionally taken on more teaching and training roles to help advance animal care throughout the industry, including starting his own surgical training company in 2023 and completing RVC’s Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education in 2024.
